Preferred Outfitters
In order to provide the best experience for our guests, Black Bar Lodge is not open to the general public.
One of the wonders of the Rogue River Wild & Scenic Wilderness is that throughout the protected area, there are no signs, boat ramps or other visible signs of civilization. While this enhances the river experience, it also requires that you be familiar with where you are on the river in order to locate the landings for the wilderness lodges.
Our landings are located river left, approximately 300 yards down river from Lower Black Bar Falls.
There is usually a blue drift boat anchored at our primary landing.
The short trail from the river to our porter access road is rugged & steep in areas. We are glad to provide assistance climbing the trail for the members of your party upon request.
We provide a porter vehilcle (and driver!) to transport your luggage from the river to the main lodge so that you may begin your rest and relaxation upon arrival.
The Rogue River Trail spans from Grave's Creek, the entrance to the Wild & Scenic Wilderness to Foster Bar, a total distance of approximately 45 miles. At about the 9th mile there is a signed access trail to the river directly across from our lodge.
Our staff will watch and listen for your arrival. When you reach the river we will row our drift boat across the river and bring you in.
Because of the many days with temperatures well into the 100's throughout the summer, we do not recommend hiking from mid July through mid September.
Each outfitter offers a unique experience, and we would be glad to assist you in selecting the best outfitter for your adventure.
